Photojournalists have a saying, "f/8 and be there," meaning that being on the scene is more important than worrying about technical details. Yet with f/8, the depth-of-field and hyperfocal distance calculator for the iPhone and iPod touch, youll be there with the depth of field spot-on, too! Anywhere, anytime!
With f/8, all parameters and values are shown on a single screen with no scrolling required. All calculations are performed interactively in real time for maximum efficiency. The concept of camera bag provides fast access to the bodies, cameras, and lenses regularly used.
f/8 comes with presets for more than 800 camera models from Canon, Casio, Epson, Fujifilm, HP, Kodak, Konica, Kyocera, Leica, Minolta, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Ricoh, Samsung, Sigma, and Sony. There are also presets for various film formats (i.e., 35mm, 6x4.5, 6x6, 6x7, 6x9, 4x5, 5x7, 8x10), and cinematographic formats (i.e., 16mm, Super 16, 35mm). Furthermore, by choosing a circle of confusion (and, optionally, built-in lens) directly, camera models currently not listed can be user-defined. For lenses, f/8 allows not only the focal lengths to be specified but also their maximum aperture and minimum focus distance to conveniently adjust the range of input parameter allowed.
NOTE: f/8 does not use or manipulate the camera of the iPhone.
